Max Seddon: ‘Russia and President Vladimir Putin Have Absolutely No Intention of Agreeing’ to a Peace Deal

We‘re more than four years into the Russian invasion of Ukraine, now that Russia and president Vladimir Putin have absolutely no intention of agreeing any kind of peace deal to to end this war unless it‘s essentially a surrender for for Ukraine. They are willing to engage in some sort of peace talks. But their set of demands that they have set out as preconditions for, for any peace deal. Ukraine has said that basically amounts to surrender. And Putin himself made this very clear as well when he was last speaking in public on Friday night, he said that Ukraine needed to be punished for its increased drone attacks on Russian energy infrastructure during the Russian parliamentary elections last weekend. This does not look and sound like someone who is really interested in the deal. He thinks that he has the military advantage in this war. He thinks he‘s going to win. He thinks he can inflict more pain on Ukraine, especially this winter. Attacking Ukrainian energy infrastructure power.”
