Bloomberg’s Mason: China Is Pressuring Trump to Get the Iran War Wrapped Up While There’s ‘No Reverse Pressure’ from Trump

MASON: “Also interesting to me , the strategies of the two men and the two administrations. I mean, the fact that we know from Chinese media what President Xi said to President Trump about Iran is fascinating, in part because it’s him putting pressure on the president and on the Trump Administration to go back to the negotiating table. China has an interest in this getting wrapped up. But we’re not seeing the reverse pressure from this president, at least not in public, but also not in terms of getting a readout from what he has said or what they prepared for. The president could be putting pressure on China to help or not to buy additional oil from Iran. He could be doing the same thing with regard to Taiwan and multiple other issues of tension in the relationship. But instead, what we’ve seen today is a focus on boosting the relationship, being friendly, showing him the helicopter, showing him the helipad.”
