Sen. Mark Kelly Criticizes Trump Admin Handling of Iran: ‘They Didn’t Have a Plan’

KELLY: "Well, the president's stuck at this point. And this is what happens when you get into this kind of conflict without a strategic goal, without a plan, without a timeline, and ultimately without an exit strategy. So that’s what happened. If you go back to February, initially, he was talking about regime change, 2 to 3 days. When that didn’t happen, he moved on to enriched uranium, which was supposedly obliterated last summer. That wasn’t the case. They — since they didn’t have a plan, what unfolded, especially over the first month or a couple months, was Pete Hegseth just deciding, 'Let’s just drop as many munitions on as many targets as possible.' He went straight to camera talking about setting new records, so excited about it. We bombed 10,000 things. And then weeks later we set a new record, 12,000, 14,000 targets. No wonder there is a munitions issue. I mean, as I see it, the president has three main options. He could just leave and leave them with the Strait of Hormuz. Certainly unacceptable from my perspective and, I think, you know, most of the American people. He can escalate, which is usually how, when you when you go to war against another country, air power is a component of it. It’s always guys like Donald Trump that think you can just drop a bomb on something and that solves all your problems.”
