LEMIRE: “The problem is it's still two competing goals here for this White House. On one hand, there is this this economic strategy, which is going to be a longer term play. It's going to take a while to roll out the sanctions, this chokehold, because Tehran has shown a remarkable resilience so far with their economy. And frankly, they don't much care if their people are suffering. That's one. That's going to take a while. The problem is the clock is ticking towards the midterms. And as David just said, this strategy, though it's probably his best play, though it's though it very well, some observers think this could work. It's going to keep oil prices high. And if there are these sporadic strikes, Willie, it's going to keep the war in the headlines, which is the last thing Republicans want now, two months until voters go to the polls.”
