Ben Rhodes: Iran Has ‘All the Leverage’ as Trump’s Key War Objectives Have Failed
RUSH EXCERPT:
RHODES: “Well, I mean, our view of the conflict is clearly that they have all the leverage that they’ve already won in some ways, because their regime is still in place. That was an objective of Trump’s that failed. They still have a nuclear program that was an objective of Trump’s that failed, and they controlled the Strait of Hormuz. And that aircraft carriers presence doesn’t reopen the Strait of Hormuz magically. And so when they see that and they see an American public that has no idea why we’re there and is against the war, they know that ultimately, Donald Trump doesn’t know what he’s doing and doesn’t have any leverage diplomatically to compel the Iranians to do what he wants. But they also see, frankly, a country that, you know, one of the things, you know, Jim, when I travel around and people admired how much the United States supported its own military, how much we left no person behind, how much we tried to care for military families, that that was part of having the strongest fighting force in the world."
