Mollie Hemingway on Iran Amid Midterms: They Think That If Dems Get a Lot of Power, That Will Help Their Situation

HEMINGWAY: "These are all things the White House should have been thinking at the time they went into the situation but it is true that Iran is suffering greatly from this war. All they need to do is make it through to the midterms. They think if Democrats are able to get a lot of power that will help their situation which actually gets to the bigger issue, which is, there are many wonderful things about our system of government but when you don’t have consistent leadership over time you can play some games that can be bad for the American people. Whether that is the way that we’ve outsourced jobs throughout the world, or that we’ve subsidized other countries through, you know, tariff regimes that benefit them and not us, or allowing Iran to do this type of assaulting of Americans, killing so many Americans, for 50 years and not doing anything about it for 40 years, these are some of the downsides to that situation. But, you know, political implications, giving the government over to Democrats will seriously harm the agenda of the Republicans and this Trump White House. So hopefully they will be able to resolve things soon before those oil prices keep trickling down on all of our other costs."
