Richard Haass on Iran: We’ll Get This Deal, Which at a Minimum, Will Lead to the Reopening of the Strait for Some Time

HAASS: “I think there's a pretty good chance we'll get this deal, which at a minimum will lead to the reopening of the straits for some time. Where I think he has it wrong is Iran is going to have far greater control over the strait than it had before the war. It's in a position here to dictate which routes or channels ships use. They're not imposing tolls, but the MOU, the vice president's administration signed, gives Iran the right to impose tolls after 60 days. So that's a question of when, not if. So yeah, I think that's going to happen.”
