Gen. Jack Keane: ‘You Cannot Trust the Iranians’ After They Violated Strait of Hormuz Agreement

‘They signed a deal and did not comply with it’

RUSH EXCERPT:

KEANE: “I agree with all of that. Think what has happened here as we went to a cease-fire in April the seventh and began negotiations almost immediately on April the eighth with the Iranians. The reason for that was because they shut down the Strait of Hormuz we started the operation February 28. They shut them down on March the second. After living with that for eight-month prices started to move up the spiral. Certainly a huge economic and political implications of all of it. The president and his team felt the Iranians were sincere about wanting to negotiate and we began a series of negotiations that lasted over 90 days. Even came up with the signed agreement referred to as the memorandum of understanding which had only one agreement in it. Everything else was a promise of for the future after 60 or so days of negotiation. One agreement was ironic would open up Strait of Hormuz and remove their interference and restrictions for the United States would remove its blockade blockade. We remove the blockade several days later the Iranians began to interfere with the Strait of Hormuz literally at their president had signed it after hours had signed it. We have said on this show multiple times you cannot trust the Iranians. They won’t lie and will lie and even if they make a deal you when I came to the same conclusion for they will not comply with it. And look what happened. They signed a deal and did not comply with it."
