Harold Ford Jr. Amid the Iran Conflict: For Me, the Strait of Hormuz Is the Real Issue
RUSH EXCERPT:
FORD: "A couple of things. The narrative and lemp raj here for the Iranians, we would probably all agree is the Strait of Hormuz. I’m more encouraged tonight, bret, by the belief that perhaps a conference will take place in the U.K. between us and them, about how we build a coalition to help open the straits. That’s the Iranian leverage. If we’re able to do that, then I think we’re able to find a path to how we end this. There is no doubt, the president doesn’t have an appetite for war. I listened to him this afternoon and I hope he’s right. Root for him because I’m rooting for our country but the real issue here now is the point that the Iranians have over us which is the Strait of Hormuz. It’s driving prices up of oil which means gasoline prices. It’s driving prices up of clothing, and, for that matter, electronics and other things, and when the president today added tariffs to the conversation it only makes it harder for the American people so for me the Strait of Hormuz is the real issue."
