Anne Applebaum: Trump Is in Putin’s Pocket
EXCERPT:
SCARBOROUGH: "Anne, there are so many things to be offended by regarding Donald Trump, especially toward Ukraine. But I've got to say, when he tells the secretary of Defense, who is play-acting as secretary of War, not to show him any more pictures of Ukraine because it's so depressing. When Vladimir Putin is at his weakest point in 25 years, then you understand just how in Putin's pocket he is."
APPLEBAUM: "He's in Putin's pocket. He's in the pocket of people around him who have strange ideas about Europe and what Europe is. He seems to be still captured by an idea that people have been trying to talk him out of for years, a belief that NATO is somehow paid for by the United States and that NATO countries spending more on their defense budgets is somehow paying money into the United States.”
