CBS’ Brennan: Trump’s Threat to Bomb Oman If Pursues Any Agreement with Iran to ‘Toll the Strait of Hormuz’ Was the Remark of the Cabinet Meeting
EXCERPT:
BRENNAN: “And that’s surprising, because Oman is a partner to the United States. They have an official position of neutrality, kind of like Switzerland. They’re small, they’re wealthy, they’re in the Gulf. And in the past, they’ve helped America out on some thorny diplomatic issues. This time, though, President Trump says Oman should not cut a deal with Iran to reopen the Strait if it involves charging any kind of toll for entry. Now, the two countries have been discussing charging a fee, a kind of system there, to cover Oman’s expenses for doing security screenings against, you know, smugglers and traffickers and the like. Treasury secretary Bessent later cleaned things up a little bit. He said Omans’s ambassador had assured him there was no plan to charge a toll. In the past, Oman’s ambassadors and diplomats have been important to the United States.”
