Sky News: Reform Party Is Winning Hundreds of Seats Across the Country
EXCERPT:
RIGBY: "Yeah, they’ve just taken Essex and there's still well over a couple of dozen seats to declare, so that is a real emphatic win. When I last looked, just before they declared, Reform were I think running on 43 percent of the vote in Essex against 10 percent for the conservatives. And that just gives you a sense of Kemi Badenoch's own constituency. This is where, in Essex, she is an MP. Niger Farage already off the blocks to say, based on this, Kemi Badenoch would lose her seat in the general election, so they will take that as a big win. That’s — they’ve also taken overnight Newcastle-upon-Lyme, so that’s the second outright council they’ve won. But this turquoise wave going around the country, they are winning hundreds of seats and they are really taking on Labor too. I mean, this is — we're talking about the kind of conservative heartlands around London, they're really taking chunks out of Labor up in Manchester and around the north as well. So, you know, they're taking big chunks in Wigan, they are hopeful about St. Helens later, they’ve taken seats in Salford. So it’s not just in the south, it’s not just in conservative heartlands. They are really eating into that red wall, and that is obviously causing lots of alarm for Labor, where those seats that flipped to Boris Johnson in the 2019 Brexit election came back to Labor in '24 under Starmer, and now they're going again and they are going to Reform."
