Rep. Smith on War Powers: Republicans in Congress Have Joined Trump in Violating That Law, Allowing Him to Continue to Pursue This War
RUSH EXCERPT:
SMITH: "Yeah. No, there’s there’s no language in the war powers resolution that says anything of the kind. But the thing that’s puzzled me about this whole conversation is, where did the expectation that the Trump Administration was going to follow the law come from? This is not surprising. We’ve been voting, gosh, for almost since the war began, to insist that Congress must authorize this war. The Republicans in Congress have joined President Trump and violating that law and allowing the president to continue to pursue this law, this war without congressional authorization. So 60 days, 90 days, it’s just a continuation of that same disregard for the war powers resolution and the role of Congress. And the real issue now is, again, how do we get out of this? Because we are fundamentally stuck and undermining our credibility day after day."
