Jim Vandehei: ‘Drones Alone Have Kept the Ukrainians in This War’

VANDEHEI: “The Ukraine war is over. A long time ago, without drones. Drones alone have kept the Ukrainians in this war. The Iranians have no shot whatsoever with us in in the Middle East, if they didn’t have these drones, these drones cost 25,000 to $100,000 to produce. And like you said, they can assassinate people at scale. And I always like to think about the parallel universe. Imagine the universe where maybe we don’t have to fund or fight next to the Ukrainians, but maybe we sat there and we worked very closely with them, and we studied drone warfare much more closely, and we understood it as sophisticated as they do. And we were able to apply that and preempt and anticipate what happened in Iran. Like you have this ability where you have like Ukraine had issues, there is corruption. They’re not wrong about that. That is true."
