Fmr. Defense for Nuclear Official on Ground Ops Securing Enriched Uranium: ‘Next to Impossible to Do It’
‘You‘d have to defend your personnel inside Iran’
EXCERPT:
WEBER: “Well, to do it in a non-permissive environment as a special military operation would be extraordinarily risky. It would be next to impossible to do it because the time on target you would need would probably be days or even weeks, and you’D have to defend your personnel inside Iran and that would take most likely thousands of ground troops. We didn’t have those issues, that’s why a negotiated solution where perhaps the Iranian HEU is moved to a third country, like, for example, the international low enriched uranium fuel bank in Oskemen, Kazakhstan, which is under the IAEA.”
