Tom Bevan on Midterms Amid the Iran War: By June, Perceptions of the Economy Are ‘Fixed,’ It Will Be Tougher for Republicans the Longer It Continues

‘Democrats are up about five points right now’

RUSH EXCERPT:
BEVAN: "The public does have short memory on things like this, which is why Republicans want to put it in the rear view mirror as soon as possible to return to the economy. But look, by June, basically, the perceptions of the economy are fixed. Prior to this action, the Trump Administration had a story to tell on the economy. But they had a perception problem. People were still feeling the bite of inflation and the prices. It’s going to be tougher. Again, they’re starting now two steps behind where they were six weeks ago in terms of making that case with the public. In our average, Democrats are up about five points right now. It is tough. I think the consensus is that the house is probably gone and the Senate is getting closer to being really contested although I think it’s an uphill battle for Democrats to win the four seats that they need. It’s going to be very difficult for Republicans if the longest this continues."
