Mayor Johnson: We Will Make Chicago the First City in the Country to Hold ICE and Border Patrol Officers Accountable for Criminal Misconduct
‘Chicagoans are asking us to do more in this moment, and it is certainly our aim to meet their expectations’
EXCERPT:
JOHNSON: “Chicagoans are asking us to do more in this moment, and it is certainly our aim to meet their expectations. We are working on additional measures that we believe will make Chicago the first city in the country to be able to effectively hold ICE and Border Patrol officers accountable for criminal misconduct. This is not about politics, this is about a fundamental idea that in our country nobody is above the law. There's no such thing as absolute immunity in America. If you commit a crime, you should be tried like anyone else, regardless of the badge on your chest or the mask that's on your face.”
