David Rohde on Deadly Attack on U.S. Personnel in Syria: It Seems Like an ISIS Member ‘May Have Infiltrated Local Forces’
RUSH EXCERPT:
ROHDE: "This is part of the effort to defeat ISIS in Syria. It’s a much smaller presence. But today’s shooting tragically shows that it continues to be there. According to what the Pentagon has said, this was these these soldiers were meeting with local leaders. That’s a very common thing that goes on. It goes on in Syria. It went on in Iraq and in Afghanistan, where they’re trying to work with the local population. And it seems like an ISIS member may have infiltrated local forces or somehow gotten very close to this, this large group of Americans. So the fact that they were able to kill two Americans, wounded three others, and also killed a translator suggests it was sort of an inside job and someone posing as a friendly local who then shot and killed these service members."
