Orlando Magic’s Isaac on Not Getting Vaccinated: ‘This Is Much Bigger than Basketball’
EXCERPT:
ISAAC: “You know, I feel like people have been, you know, so weaponized and to a degree misguided by the media to just be upset with everybody and beat anybody over the head has any type of hesitancy about the vaccine. You know, there are people with medical issues, there are people with religious hesitancy about taking a vaccine, and people are just — you know, it's either black or white. There’s no nuance. You know, some people's doctors have even told them it's not best for them to take the vaccine right now, and this mandate has just come out of nowhere. And so, looking out in the landscape and looking at people — people are losing their jobs, I'm like, 'Man, like, this is much bigger than just the vaccine, it's much bigger than basketball. We're talking about the freedoms and liberties that we're afforded in this country being challenged in a way that we haven’t seen. And so, you know, for those reasons I’m like, 'You know what, I’m willing to take a stand on this and say I’m not going to get vaccinated at this time and feel that I’ve done enough to look into it to be a voice to share my reasoning and, you know, continue to be a voice for the voiceless.'"
