Montage — Media: These Terrorists Are Probably Just Lone Wolves

Many in the media were quick to dub the terrorists who attacked a French satirical publication ‘lone wolves’

If you weren't aware that lone wolves can operate in groups, you weren't watching cable news Wednesday, as analysts discussed the massacre of cartoonists and others at the French satirical publication, Charlie Hebdo.

"It appears to be more of a lone-wolf style attack" reported Laith Alkhouri, of Flashpoint Global Partners.

On MSNBC, Chris Hayes likened the attack to the Boston Marathon terrorist attack, which he said was also carried out by lone wolves.

Rachel Maddow said "these more lone wolf-style attacks ... they're basically murder plots."

Finally, the author of "Lone Wolf Terrorism," Jeffrey Simon, summed up this analysis by explaining how virtually all terrorist attacks are "lone-wolf" in nature.
