Scott Colom on His Potential Upset in Deep-Red Mississippi: ‘I Ran on a Vision That Put Working People First’
‘The voters in Mississippi proved me right’
RUSH EXCERPT:
COLOM: “Well, listen, I’m a seventh generation mississippian. I was elected district attorney when I was 32 years old. I beat a 30 year incumbent running on criminal justice reform in a district that people told me I had no chance to win. And because of that election, I knew that if I ran on the right values and I ran on a vision that put working people first, that I could build enough of a majority or plurality of voters to win. And the voters in Mississippi proved me right. And I’m so honored to be fighting for my state in this moment. And we’re going to win. I said Wednesday morning, I know how elections work in Mississippi. They always try in the democratic direction, and that’s what’s going to happen now."
