EXCERPT:

CAMPBELL: “Yeah, Wolf, a significant development in this case that we have been monitoring. Again, the AP reporting that Thomas Markle has been taken into custody by federal authorities. He had been living at a retirement center near Tampa, Florida. Now, where this all possibly has stemmed from, there was past reporting that the son of Thomas Markle had told Britain‘s The Sun newspaper that he had previously uncovered a stash of indecent images of underage children in storage boxes and on computer hard drives at his father‘s house overseas in the Philippines, and had reported him to the Philippine national police. The Philippine Justice Department, there child abuse unit, told CNN that the matter was under investigation. Now, Thomas Markle sr. had vehemently denied the allegations in an interview that he did with Britain‘s The Daily Mail newspaper. But if you look at kind of where this case, again, probably came from, Markle jr. had told the sun newspaper that he had also reported the discovery of material to U.S. authorities. And in October, the FBI actually told CNN that it was aware of those allegations involving Markle sr., who was a U.S. Citizen. It said that the Bureau would be providing support as appropriate to the Philippine national police, and they also said that they would also be investigating any related allegations of federal violations of U.S. law.”
