CNBC: October Jobs Report, ‘165 vs. A Forecast of 59,000’
EXCERPT:
LIESMAN: "165 versus a forecast of 59,000. Looking for any revisions. Average hourly earnings, 3.1. That is 2/10 better than the expectation of 2.9%. Factory jobs up 19,000. That’s a good number. Private service sector, private sector jobs up 159,000. So that tells you right away, the big chunk of it was the private sector. Looking for any revisions. Huge upward revision, the opposite of what I thought was going to happen or what has been happening, up 60,000 in the prior month from 29,000. Looking at the unemployment rate, I don’t have that, ladies and gentlemen, but that’s -- we’ll come back to that. 4.1%. that is 1/10 lower than expectations, I am told. And so earnings, strong, jobs, strong, jobs in the rear view mirror, strong. We went into this with a three-month average around 51,000. I am 100% sure the math will be higher now."
