STEVENS: “You know, I spent a lot of time in Ukraine, and I — everybody I heard from in Ukraine was overjoyed that this would happen. And I think it could have a big impact on Ukraine. You know, there are a lot of Republican senators — and this is part of their disgrace — who really deeply believe in Ukraine. And yet they go along with Trump. And you know, Trump is clearly in some ways pro-Putin. And when you go along with someone who is pro-Putin, you become pro-Putin. And that is why I think one of the great underreported stories is the degree to which the Russian Federation has influenced the Republican Party.”
