Gregg Jarrett: Ilhan Omar’s Reelection Is Vindication of Nothing — There’s No Congressional Immunity for Fraud
EXCERPT:
JARRETT: “Oh, I think she is, Sean. She can dance all she wants. Her re-election is vindication of nothing because her district is one of the safest Democrat seats in the nation. But it’s also completely irrelevant. There is no special congressional immunity for false statements, fraud, or financial wrongdoing. Yet, you play the clip there, she’s again, Omar, blaming Trump for political retribution, racism, bigotry. When you think about it, it’s implausible since we have now learned that the original investigation of Omar began under Barack Obama and found evidence that her marriage was fraudulent, but they secretly dropped it back then because of a five-year statute of limitations, which makes no sense at all because the clock resets from the last act of fraud or false statements, not the wedding date, so her later immigration filings, tax filings, dissolution petition, all of that means the statute was still ticking away, not expiring.”
