Texas Man Honors Father Fatally Shot by ICE: ‘I Cried as I Was Casting My Vote’
‘It’s a terrible thing to think about’
EXCERPT:
SALGADO: “I visit the memorial every single day. So, it’s a part of my routine. And I voted at a polling site not too far away from the memorial. And after voting, I always vote with my parents in mind, with my family in mind. But this year’s vote is definitely with much heavier weight on it. I cried as I was casting my vote because I was doing it in honor of my dad. And after voting, I decided, you know what? Time to go to the memorial. It’s a good time, I told my wife. And so, as I was there and I was reflecting, as I always do, I had a sticker on my sweater and I decided to paste it on there. And then two other ladies from the community took the time to — they showed up and they had that same idea as well."
