David Axelrod, Van Jones Imply that Haley Stevens Is Having a Breakdown: She Is ‘Obviously Struggling’

‘I just don‘t want to pile on right now’

EXCERPT:

AXELROD: "I share -- I share her feeling. I share her feeling. I thought that was very, very sad. And, you know, Haley Stevens is obviously struggling and -- and I think trying to find her way through something that she hadn‘t fully thought through. So, you know, there‘s a lot of anger about what she did, but we‘re all human beings. And I think watching her made me think, 'This is someone who‘s struggling.' And so I just don‘t want to pile on right now. And I think that‘s kind of the way we should handle it."
JONES: “Yeah, I am -- I‘m one of many Democrats who talked to her yesterday. She seemed pretty at peace. She seemed pretty clear that she was done. And I want to be on the record, I‘m one of the many Democrats to talk to her. She‘s -- it was very hard to see that. And I think most people watching that may have started off angry, and they probably, as it went forward, had some empathy.”
