Sen. Angus King: ‘Totally Illegal’ Trump Russia Deal Is ‘Just One More Nail in the Coffin of Our Foreign Policy’

KING: "Well, unfortunately, it‘s just one more nail in the coffin of our foreign policy for the past 80 years, which has been deterrence, particularly against aggressors. The only beneficiary of this so-called deal that the president has announced is Vladimir Putin. It‘s not going to do a damn thing about the price of diesel. It‘s going to undermine Ukraine, where they‘re trying to save their country from an aggressive and murderous dictator, and it‘s basically going to give Putin more money to bomb hospitals and the electric grid and the civilians in Ukraine. So — by the way, John, it‘s totally illegal. Congress passed a law in 2022, no trading of energy with Russia. It passed the Senate 100 to 0, and I think in the house, it was 325 to 9 or something like that. You don‘t get that kind of majorities on most legislation. So, it‘s illegal, it‘s wrong, it‘s immoral. And the only real beneficiary is Vladimir Putin."
