Brett McGurk: ‘Putin Is a Master’ at Presenting Proposals That Advance Russia’s Interests

RUSH EXCERPT:

MCGURK: "I suspect that’s what Putin is a master at it. And by the way, these countries all believe, you know, these are authoritarian states that are believed, that they think in long-term time horizons. They think the United States is very short-term and that ultimately we’re in decline. That’s what they believe. And this is kind of what Putin does. I got a deal for you, and I used to negotiate with the Russians. As you know, you sit across the table from them. They would always come in with some new proposal.”
