Sen. Tillis on Iran: ‘We Have Meandered for 4 or 5 Months, and Hegseth Has Been Asleep at the Switch’

‘I never saw this lack of engagement with Congress’

EXCERPT:

TILLIS: "We have meandered for 4 or 5 months, and Hegseth has been asleep at the switch and ignoring members of the Senate Armed Services Committee and appropriators that he desperately needs to sustain the effort. That’s what I mean. If you’re a CEO, you engage your shareholders, right, your investors. This guy has been persona non grata or incognito or whatever word you want to use in communicating what we need to do. The briefings have been thin and there’s frustration. Then he does major HL personnel decisions without speaking. I was the — I was the chair or ranking member on Personnel and Readiness Subcommittee for eight years. In that entire time, spanning three different presidents, I never saw this lack of engagement with Congress. And then people wonder why it’s not popular in Congress.“
