Former Asst. Principal Says Fake Classes Were Created at Nashville High School to Help Students Graduate

EXCERPT:

FINLEY (voice-over): "But Jones says he also discovered proof of grade manipulation. He says while auditing grades, he found students were put into classes that weren’t even offered on the master schedule that semester."

JONES: "How can I justify signing off on these grades when this is a fake class?"

FINLEY (voice-over): "As he audited, he says those students were given failing grades in those alleged fake classes, which then qualified them to take what’s called Edgenuity, an online system to retake a class, but before you take Edgenuity, you can test outm and he says that's just what students did."

FINLEY: "But how are they passing the tests?"
JONES: "With teacher assistants."
FINLEY: "Teacher assistants?"
JONES: "Yes."
FINLEY: "Somebody guiding them, saying, 'Here’s the answer.'"
JONES: "Or, 'That’s not the correct answer. Try again.'"

FINLEY (voice-over): "He says the end result: students tested out of fake classes."
