HAWLEY: "No, you're not wrong at all. Listen, never before in American history had the Justice Department ever charged a presidential candidate with a crime during an election. They tried to charge Trump multiple times, including just days before the general election. And, Sean, the DoJ told Smith not to do it. They told Jack Smith, 'Don’t bring another indictment against Trump right before the election. You’ve already gone too far. Don’t do it.' He did it anyway because he was power-hungry and he didn’t want the American people to have the choice to vote for Donald Trump. He wanted to throw the election. And this is such an abuse of power, I hope it never happens again and I hope he goes to jail."
