Rubio: America Is Focused on Venezuela’s ‘Democratic Transition’

RUBIO: “Well, in Venezuela, two things are happening. One, their economy needs to continue to recover because the people of Venezuela have suffered so much. Understand, we’re talking about 25 or 30 years of corruption and grift. But the other thing that has to happen, and we’re really focused on, is a democratic transition. They need to have free and fair elections in that country. We’re working very hard with the 2015 National Assembly to put in place the conditions necessary to have free and fair elections as soon as possible. And then Venezuela will really be on the upswing it deserves to be on.”
