Ken Paxton Says He Can Give Some Relief to People by Eliminating Gas Tax

PAXTON: “You’re talking — I think you’re talking about the federal gas tax. The state gas tax does directly — it didn’t initially. As a matter of fact, I was very opposed to any increases for spending on any transportation because the gas tax in Texas was being diverted to other uses. And the voters were never really told that. It just got moved around a little shell game. Well, one of the problems we had, we finally made through probably over a decade of fighting this, we got that changed. But then there’s also shell games with other money being moved around. So, you never really quite know.”
