Brian Stelter: The President Is ‘Trying To Pick and Choose Who Is Allowed Near Him’

STELTER: "Because this came in in the last 15 minutes. We don‘t have an answer to that yet. I‘m very curious to find out, because this was an unusual and extraordinary show of solidarity. You know, you think back to 2025, when the Associated Press went through something somewhat similar. Trump tried to kick the ap out of the Oval Office and Air Force One. There was not the show of solidarity that, in retrospect, I wish we had seen from the American news media this time around, there has been. It was almost this week as if a ban of one was treated like a ban of everyone. It‘s a relatively easy, though, to do that for a few days. It might be harder to do that for weeks or months at a time, so I can‘t venture a guess right now whether we will see that happening. But I do know this, Jim, much bigger picture here. We‘re talking about a president trying to control coverage, trying to pick and choose who is allowed near him, allowed to ask him questions, and allowed to hold him accountable."
