Dem Sen. Warner: ‘Most Countries Around the World Now Believe China Is More Responsible than America’

WARNER: “Well, listen, I think one of the things that President Trump has done with his tariff policies or his disdain of our allies around the world has made America weaker. And frankly, China looks pretty good. Actually, most of the countries around the world now believe China is more responsible than America. That is not good for America, not good for democracies. China is still an authoritarian regime. On AI, I think we do need to find some agreement. The idea that not simply the AI companies are saying that we’re getting into a danger zone, but literally major American corporate businesses realize that we ought to have some level of mandatory self-testing. And I’m going to be putting up a bill on the floor of the Senate today that will say we can debate about data centers, kids’ safety, AI liability, but let’s at least do a pre-model release safety testing.”
