Rep. Pressley: We Will Create a Restitution Fund for Epstein Survivors if We Win in Nov.

PRESSLEY: “I've established this, introduced this survivor's restitution fund because people understand perhaps the physical and the psychological harm of what it is to be violated, to be raped, to be trafficked, but not the economic impact. It takes an incredible economic toll. In fact, the Center for Disease Control has studied this, and at baseline, they said that for the typical survivor victim of sexual assault, you're talking about $122,000, lost wages, you know, losing jobs, health care costs, mental and behavioral health. It is a disruptive event. It is a life-altering event, and it takes an economic toll. And so I've introduced the Survivors' Restitution Act, where it would be not under the Department of Justice because they themselves have been implicated in this cover-up, but for anyone who's had their rights under the Crime Victims' Rights Act violated, anyone who has experienced harm, sexual assault, and otherwise by the federal government, then they would be eligible for this independent fund set up with adjudicators that are trauma-informed, people who've worked in mental health, so that victims would not be re-traumatized in pursuing restitution.”
