Tom Cotton: Trump Should Bring Up the Issue of Human Rights and Taiwan in His Meeting with Xi

COTTON: “Well, I might not have personally rolled out the red carpet for a communist dictator, but I think it’s more important than what’s on the menu at the White House is what the president and Xi Jinping discuss. We need to make it clear we won’t tolerate China stealing our AI models the way they’ve cheated so much in the last several decades, our farmers and our factory workers, that we’re not going to send them the most advanced semiconductor chips and they shouldn’t be diverting them. That they need to stop threatening their neighbors like Taiwan and Japan, and that we’re going to stand with those neighbors. And that also, that they need to stop persecuting their own citizens, for example, Christians inside of China or other ethnic and religious minorities. So, the pomp and circumstance matters less to me than taking a firm, strong line against China and standing up for American interests.”
