Rand Paul on Skyrocketing Deficit: ‘Both Parties Are Guilty of It’

PAUL: “At home I usually say, whose fault is it, Republicans or Democrats? And the answer is yes. Both parties are guilty of it. They want to spend money on different things. They usually compromise to raise spending on everything. The Republicans tend to be more for the warfare budget. The Democrats more for the welfare budget. So warfare and welfare always go up, and that's been compromised over the last 40 years or more. I think the compromise could be in reverse. We could both say that the priorities that we have for government all need to be reduced and that the most important thing to make us strong again and to defend our country and to defend the dollar is actually to reduce spending on all fronts.”
