Michele Tafoya: Minnesotans Tell Me All the Time They’re Embarrassed To Be from This State
EXCERPT:
DERUSHA: “That goes to the sort of the same thing with the furor that came when you said that people have been telling you that they are embarrassed to be from Minnesota.”
TAFOYA: “I hear it every day.”
DERUSHA: “Are you embarrassed to be from Minnesota?”
TAFOYA: “If I were embarrassed to be from Minnesota, would I be running for the United States Senate to represent Minnesota? Would I be putting my family and myself in this position to say, I want to be the senator representing the great state of Minnesota if I were embarrassed of Minnesota? I have never said that. I have said what people tell me every single day. And it starts with, 'Gee, Michele, I was out on vacation. I was in Nebraska. And people ask me where I'm from, and I didn't want to say.' There's a lot of news headlines coming out of Minnesota that are embarrassing.”
DERUSHA: “Yeah.”
