Kim Strassel on Gov. Josh Shapiro’s Reluctance to Trump’s School Program: One Word, ‘Unions,’ the Teachers Unions

STRASSEL: "There’s just one word. It is unions the teachers unions. They are throwing everything they have at this. As a moral struggle they see the expansion of these programs is putting more pressure on public schools to perform better. For those districts to take a harder look at teachers, teachers standings they hate school choice they’re putting enormous pressure on all these governors to say no. I do not know, this could be a real problem for the unions. As this money starts to blow up millions and millions are going to states that have opted in with the governors that won’t ge into it that’s going to create an enormous a blowback for these elected officials and that’s where they are kind of dancing around at the moment. This could be the moment were unions really do lose this fight. They know it into the putting all their money and resources in the lobby against this."
