Sen. Ossoff on AI Regulation: I’ve Been Very Aggressive in Investigating the Risks to Children
RUSH EXCERPT:
OSSOFF: "Clearly an urgent need for regulation and you got the obvious issue that is sweeping the country of the impact on utility bills. And power bills you’ve also got. As you know, I’ve, been very aggressive in investigating the risks to children posed by artificial intelligence technology, we see schoolchildren who face unimaginable bullying and exploitation powered by some of this technology. The use of this technology to generate a child sex abuse material. I recently launched a Senate inquiry and receive some preliminary data from a national center for missing and exploited children on that matter. But I want to highlight a particular concern. That’s not getting nearly enough attention and I recently launched an inquiry demanding that the administration provide details to the Senate on how it will regulate the sale and distribution of nucleic acids and other at potentially sensitive biological products. That, with artificial intelligence technology can be used to produce seriously dangerous new viruses and pathogens that pose a serious threat to human health and United States and to global health. This is one of the most serious concerns that arises. Associated with this technology"
