NEC Dir. Kevin Hassett on the August Jobs Report: The Thing That I Find Most Striking Is That ‘There Are Now 90,000 People Who Are Working’
EXCERPT:
HASSETT: “Or that economists are going to have to start changing their models to be more like the models we use in the White House that show that the Big Beautiful Bill is causing a capital spending boom and that’s creating jobs that people, even foreign manufacturers, are onshoring jobs in the U.S and that’s creating jobs and building factories here. The one thing that Ali didn’t mention and I’ll give it back to you, I promise not to filibuster, is that the thing that I find most striking is that there are now 90,000 people who are working. This has gone up enormously since President Trump took office, building factories. And so, when he talks about the trillions and trillions of commitments to build factories, imagine we have 90,000 people in the U.S., that’s a lot of people, building factories who weren’t building factories a year ago January.”
