MacFARLANE: “It’s the issue now, not so much the next issue. Ask a kid what they think of AI. Listen to the damning review you get from kids to AI and how they think it’s going to subjugate them to unemployment for many years to come. The American Federation of Teachers is on board with limiting screentime AI tools. They actually have a plan to prohibit the use of AI or encourage schools to prohibit it for any elementary school kid, no screens between K and second grade. And let’s make handwriting part of, and paper, part of what we do. How many teachers out there have to have their kids handwrite responses to tests because they don’t want chatbots or AI to be utilized through screens? This is a moment in which we grapple with this. It’s not the next issue. It’s the now issue.”
