SCANLON: "It appears that those who oppose sanctuary jurisdictions do so in the mistaken belief that those cities are providing sanctuary to violent criminals, and that's just not true. As I raised in our last meeting and Mr. Beer's testimony confirms, communities that adopt sanctuary city policies do so in order to improve public safety and respond to local law enforcement priorities. Attacking sanctuary policies and forcing cities to collaborate with ICE's chaos and cruelty actually undermines public safety.”
