Andrew Kolvet: General Elections Tend to Punish the Radicals, the Country Is Not with Obama Anymore

KOLVET: “Well, I mean, I think he’s kind of past his moment. Obviously for the country at large. Within the Democratic Party some polls do suggest that him, along with Mamdani and aoc and Bernie Sanders, are the most popular politicians, and he is useful for them in giving that glean of establishment kind of, I don’t know, suaveness or something a little bit more established than the aoc Mamdani wing of the party. So the fact that he’s rushing in says that he still wants to play power broker and kingmaker within the party. Now, what we say is that in primaries, they tend to reward the radicals. But general elections tend to punish them, right, and I think you’re going to find this with Obama. I do think the country is behind Obama at all anymore, because the party might be, but not the country.”
