EL-SAYED: “Our job is to make it easier for the 350 million people who live here. And if the system is not working for them, then what’s the point of the system? And maybe it’s just because, like, nobody’s been able to explain to me why it’s so cool to be a senator. Like, I still don’t understand. I’m like, so, you have to be away from your family for like 4 days a week. Everybody and their mom wants something from you, right? You have to hang out with some of the worst people. I don’t know what I’m going to talk to Chuck Grassley about. I think we both like ice cream. That’s it, right? I don’t understand why this job’s so great. The point of the job is not the job. The point of the job is the work.”
