Trade Rep. Greer on Canada Trade Talks Collapse, Tariffs: It Is Not ‘Going to Affect Anything’
‘That’s why I think the markets are shrugging it off’
EXCERPT:
GREER: “I think the market knows that at the end of the day, this is 5 percent of imports from Canada. It's 0.06 percent of our, you know, overall consumption in this economy. So there's no possible way it can really affect U.S. well-being, right? I mean, we've been having great prints on inflation the past couple of months, going down in June and staying flat here, real wages for manufacturing workers going up. So we're on the right trajectory. The fundamentals are good, and I don't think this is going to affect anything. And that's why I think the markets are shrugging it off.”
