Dr. Drew Pinsky: Maybe There’s a Role of Addiction in Lindsay Clancy’s Trial

‘There is a lot of addictive medicines in there’

EXCERPT:

HANNITY: "Let me ask you this. How is it possible, you know, living in the day and age of artificial intelligence and information age, how is it possible that somebody can get 13 different medications that are as strong and powerful as the ones that we’re talking about in this case?"
PINSKY: "I get what you are saying and I’m sympathetic to that point of view, but the reality is, it’s difficult to get information from one treatment environment to another. Electronic medical records sometimes don’t talk to each other. Physicians don’t talk to the previous prescriber. The patient distorts or maybe lied about what she was taking. There is a lot of addictive medicines in there. Maybe there was a role of addiction in all of this. So it becomes chaotic and problematic when there is not a primary care person who watches the individual from top-to-bottom. And we’ve eviscerated primary care in this country."
