THIESSEN: "Well, first of all, on the comment about owning the Strait of Hormuz, he wants the own the Panama Canal. The Strait of Hormuz is the Panama Canal of the Middle East. I understand his desire to control it. Here’s the problem we’re facing. This war has been going on for — it could have been ended in April. We had this pause with this months and months of negotiation and retaliation. No conclusive end for which America with say, okay, I’m paying high gas prices but we won the war in Iran. The danger of inaction — the Iranians know the mid-terms are coming up. Bid worried about the possibility of the regime doing something to stabilize the gulf. Spike oil prices. Cause havoc. Kill some Americans and make Trump look like he doesn’t have control of the situation right before the mid terms. Don’t put it past the regime to do that close to the election."
